Frequently Asked Questions
A website that collects data has to say who runs it and explain what it does with visitors' data. In practice that means documents published on the site - a privacy policy, a cookie policy and, for shops, terms and conditions - plus a banner asking permission before any cookie that is not strictly necessary is switched on. Compliance means having all of that written, correct and up to date. That is the work this service does, month after month.
If your site collects data - a contact form, a newsletter sign-up, visitor statistics - then yes. This is not best practice, it is a legal duty: without the documents published and a banner that genuinely lets people refuse, your site is in breach and can be fined. Sell online and you must also show the electronic Complaints Book and your alternative dispute resolution body, and publish terms and conditions - which start at Essential. This is general information, not an analysis of your case.
No, and we would rather be blunt about it. What we sell is technical compliance: standardised templates, filled in with your business details and kept up to date. We do not review your particular legal position and we do not answer legal questions - that is reserved by law to qualified lawyers. Our monitoring is automated and informational, and it does not replace legal advice. For regulated or higher-risk activities, do have a lawyer read the documents we deliver.
First we ask for your website address, your business details and the language you want the documents in. From there it is on us: we generate the privacy and cookie policies - plus the terms and conditions on Essential and Premium - and an unbranded consent banner, with a record of the consents collected. We tell you up front whether installation on your site is included in your plan. Support runs through tickets in your client area, logged 24/7, with an average response time of 8 hours.
Not much, but it matters. We need accurate, complete details of your business - legal name, address, tax number, contact details - and an honest description of what your site does with the data it collects. Tell us if anything changes. And check that the documents match what you actually do before they go live: they are general-purpose templates and may not cover everything specific to your sector.
We scan your site for cookies and third-party scripts - analytics, maps, embedded video, social buttons. When something new turns up, we update the cookie policy and the consent request within a reasonable time. How often we look depends on the plan: monthly on Basic, weekly on Essential, continuously on Premium. Essential and Premium also make your site's analytics respect each visitor's choice, plus a report - quarterly on Essential, monthly on Premium. This is technical detection, not a legal opinion.
That is what you are paying for month to month. We follow the Portuguese and EU legislation covered by the templates and, when there is a relevant change, we update the documents within a reasonable time, tell you about it and deliver the new version - installed on your site if your plan includes installation. We commit to doing the watching, not to a guaranteed outcome: we cannot promise to catch every change immediately, or to cover everything specific to your activity.
You already have one. Whenever we process data on your behalf - your site's visitors, the consents collected - our Data Processing Agreement applies automatically. It forms part of the contract, is published on our site, and lists the sub-processors we use. If that list changes we give you 30 days' notice and you can object; if there's no workable answer, you cancel and we refund the unused part. Got a security questionnaire? We'll answer it.
Basic Compliance is €13.00/month: privacy policy, cookie policy and consent banner. Essential, €29.00/month, the one most people pick, adds terms and conditions, weekly checks and a quarterly report. Premium, €59.00/month: continuous checks, an annual review of your site's legal requirements, a monthly report and a technical SEO audit that flags problems without fixing them. No VAT is added: we are covered by the VAT exemption under Article 53 of the Portuguese VAT Code, so the price you see is the price you pay. No plan includes site maintenance. If you also need your site maintained, our Total Management plan already includes Essential Compliance.
Every plan includes one language of your choice - Portuguese, English, Spanish or French - and you can add up to three more at €5.00/month each, no VAT added (Article 53 of the Portuguese VAT Code). If you live elsewhere in the EU and VAT does become due, the final amount is shown before you complete your order. To be plain: you are buying a translation of the same documents, built on Portuguese and EU law, not compliance with Spanish or French law. Trading abroad? Speak to a lawyer there.
You pick the cycle, from monthly to three-yearly, with 8% off on a year, 10% on two and 14% on three. It renews automatically for equal periods and we email you before each renewal: 7 days on monthly cycles, 14 on the rest up to a year, 30 on two and three-year ones. Cancel in your client area up to the day before: you keep the service until the end of the period you have paid for, and that period is not refunded. The last version stays yours to use.
If you subscribed as a consumer, you have 14 calendar days from your order confirmation to cancel without giving a reason: just email support@raiaweb.pt, or use the Annex A form. If you expressly asked us to start straight away, you only pay for the days you used; if not, it is a full refund. Refunds arrive within 14 days, same payment method. As a business, the law gives you no such right: you can stop the renewal, but the period already paid is not refunded, unless the contract says otherwise.
