The top reason to choose VPS hosting is the powerful dedicated resources at a far more affordable price than a dedicated server. Every plan comes with guaranteed RAM, CPU, and storage that are yours alone - never shared with other users.
Control your VPS directly from your client area - order, upgrade, renew, and manage your services in just a few clicks. And whenever you run into a problem, our support is one message away, with fast, personal answers from a team that actually knows your setup.
Start with an entry-level plan and pay only for the resources you need. As demand grows, upgrade to a higher tier in just a few clicks - balancing performance and cost. It's flexible, cost-effective scaling that lets your hosting grow alongside your project.
Frequently Asked Questions
VPS stands for virtual private server. It's a machine that's yours alone, running on our infrastructure, with the RAM, disk and vCores of your chosen plan dedicated to it. You get full root access, you pick the operating system and you install whatever you need. The catch is that the server is now yours to run. It's the difference between renting a whole flat and renting a room in a shared house.
It makes sense when you start outgrowing shared hosting: a busy online shop, a custom application, a specific version of PHP or of your database, software that has to keep running in the background. It also makes sense if you want to build your own tools and keep full control. For a simple brochure site or a standard WordPress, shared hosting is plenty and a lot less work.
On shared hosting we look after the server for you: the system, its updates and its security are on us, and you run your site from a simple control panel, cPanel. On a VPS you're the administrator: you choose the system, install what you need and you keep it patched and secure. Shared plans start at €5.55/month and VPS at €13.00/month, with no VAT added (Article 53 of the Portuguese VAT Code).
You get a server with full root access, the operating system you picked, anti-DDoS protection and unlimited traffic. As soon as your payment clears we build the server and your access details go out by email. From there the machine is yours: log in, configure it, install what you need. At checkout you choose the data centre from those available, and that is where your server stays. If the plan gets tight later, open a ticket and we'll look at moving you up.
You choose the image at install time: Linux distributions, and images that come with software ready to go, for example Debian 12 with n8n, which is governed by its owner's licence. Once it boots, you install whatever you like. With root there's no approved-software list, only the acceptable use rules: no crypto mining, no Tor exit nodes, no open relays, proxies or open DNS resolvers, and nothing that attacks third parties. What goes on the server is your call: we don't install it, configure it, update it or support it.
In one line: the infrastructure is ours, what is inside the machine is yours. We answer for the network and the host your virtual machine runs on; you answer for everything inside it, from the operating system and firewall to passwords and applications. The 99.9% target covers the infrastructure, with the SLA exclusions, not the software you administer. You can raise a ticket at any hour, with an average response time of 8 hours, about the infrastructure. We only go into your server if you ask us to, or where the law requires it.
Then a VPS probably isn't what you need, and we'd rather say so. A VPS assumes somebody keeps the system patched and secure, and that somebody is you or whoever works with you. If that's not your case, shared hosting from €5.55/month (no VAT added, Article 53 of the Portuguese VAT Code) covers the same ground for most sites, with no server to run. Still want the VPS? Talk to us and we'll quote the setup and the technical work separately.
Four plans, all with root access, daily backups, anti-DDoS and unlimited traffic. It starts at €13.00/month for the S (2 vCore, 4 GB RAM). Most people pick the M at €22.50/month, with twice the resources; above that sit the L and the XL, up to €50.00/month. Full specs are in the table above. No VAT is added: we're exempt under Article 53 of the Portuguese VAT Code.
You pick the cycle: monthly, quarterly, six months (8% off) or yearly (17% off). A year of VPS S is €130.00, about €10.83/month, no VAT added (Article 53 of the Portuguese VAT Code). You pay up front and it renews automatically. We email the price before each renewal: 7 days ahead monthly, 14 on the rest. Cancel in your client area up to the day before: you keep the service until the end of the period you have paid for, and that period is not refunded. Any price change needs 30 days' notice and you can cancel free.
If you're buying as a consumer, not for business, you have 14 calendar days from your order confirmation to change your mind, no reason needed: just email support@raiaweb.pt, or use the Annex A form. If you asked at checkout to start the server straight away, you only pay for the days you used; if not, it's a full refund. Refunds take up to 14 days, same payment method. As a business, the law doesn't give you this right: you can stop the renewal, but the period paid isn't refunded, except where the contract says otherwise.
We don't sell the VPS managed: setup, security hardening and looking after your applications are separate work, always by quote. There's no cPanel and no software licences included either. The daily backup is included, we keep the last 7 days on a best-effort basis, and it doesn't replace your own copies; a restore is free when the data loss is our fault, and may carry a cost, quoted first, when you ask for one. Leaving costs nothing: no switching fees, no data extraction charges.
